Design Statement:

A Standard for many theatre companies around the holidays, A Christmas Carol can be challenging to keep fresh while staying to true to the moments we all love and expect. Kevin Wiczer's vision for Metropolis Performing Arts Center's A Christmas Carol introduced a darker, more ominous, and grittier version of the tale. The design team was encouraged to "scare the audience" and give a more realistic glimpse into the reality of poverty in 19th century London. My design utilized exposed pipes, metal pieces, negative space, and stone textures. Many of the scenic pieces were also designed to hide actors until their frightening entrances, lending to the spooky nature of the story.
