For this design, I wanted the friction within the garments to mirror the friction of the storyline. First, I gravitated toward sheer and flowing fabrics to display a haunting and fragmented reality within the mind of Medea. This created needed tension with the metallic feeling of the scenic design. Harsh angles contrasted with soft and luxurious textures as well. The historical Greek motifs were combined modern elements into a new, abstract time period. I drew my inspiration for this design from modern fashion, particularly Erte sculptures, clothing of the ancient Greeks, and even the animal kingdom. Finally, color was an important device I used to display the emotional level of Medea. Saturated colors visually represented  Medea as a strong, passionate, and dangerous woman.
