The juxtaposition of Romeo and Juliet and a modern artifact like Daft Punk, was one of the most interesting and exciting designs I’ve worked on so far. Working for Stage 2 Student theatre, I learned to allow myself to explore ideas more freely and openly than ever before. My main concept had to do with the color difference of the two families. From there, I separated Romeo and Juliet into black and whites. Juliet was also layered in sheer fabrics to bring softness to her character. Within my renderings, I took the opportunity of working with this experimental theatre company to try out a non-tradition technique illustrating negative space in marker.
